Acceptable Use Policy
Acceptable Use Policy
Template notice: this page ships with the theme as a general starting point and has not been reviewed by a lawyer. The site owner should replace it under Nexum → Content → Legal Pages before relying on it.
This policy sets out what may and may not be done using services provided by Company Name. It applies to every account holder and to anyone using a service through them, and it forms part of our terms of service.
1. Prohibited content
Services may not be used to host, publish, distribute or link to: material that infringes copyright, trademarks or other intellectual property rights; child sexual abuse material; content that incites violence or hatred against people or groups; malware, exploit kits, phishing pages or other material designed to compromise systems or deceive users; or content that is otherwise unlawful in the jurisdiction we operate in.
2. Prohibited activity
You may not use our services to gain or attempt to gain unauthorised access to any system, network or account; to scan, probe or test the security of systems you do not own without documented permission; to intercept traffic that is not yours; to take part in denial-of-service activity, whether as source or as a proxy; or to run open relays, open proxies or anonymising services that conceal abuse.
3. Email and messaging
Unsolicited bulk email is not permitted, whether it is sent from our network or merely advertises a site hosted on it. Mailing lists must be opt-in, must record consent, and must honour unsubscribe requests promptly. Forged headers, harvested address lists and purchased address lists are not permitted.
4. Resource usage
Shared services are subject to the limits published on the product page. Processes that persistently consume a disproportionate share of CPU, memory, disk I/O or bandwidth may be throttled or stopped so that other accounts on the same server are not affected. Using a shared account primarily for bulk storage, file distribution or backup of material unrelated to a hosted site is not permitted.
5. Cryptocurrency and network services
Cryptocurrency mining, public proxies, VPN exit nodes and TOR relays are not permitted on shared services. On dedicated or virtual servers they are permitted only where they do not affect other customers and do not breach any other part of this policy.
6. Responsibility for your account
You are responsible for what happens on your account, including the actions of your own users and the security of the software you install. Out-of-date applications compromised by an attacker are still yours to clean up, and we may suspend a service while a compromise is being resolved.
7. Reporting abuse
Suspected breaches of this policy can be reported through a support ticket, with enough detail (URLs, headers, timestamps) for us to investigate.
8. Enforcement
Depending on the severity of a breach and on whether it recurs, we may issue a warning, remove the content, suspend the service or terminate the account. Where the law requires it we will also report the matter to the relevant authority. We aim to contact you before acting, except where an immediate response is needed to protect our network or a third party.
